This website was developed with assistance from the Open Society Foundation of South Africa and the Open Society Justice Initiative and is now maintained by  the African Security and Justice Programme of the Centre of Criminology at the University of Cape Town.

The ASJP is an African focused and globally engaged theoretically oriented teaching and research programme attached to the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) Chair of Security and Justice funded through the South African Department of Science and Technology.  The Chair is held by Clifford Shearing and is located within the Department of Criminal Justice and the Centre of Criminology within the Faculty of Law at the University of Cape Town. The Chair has been awarded for 5 years from January 2007.
